Deodorant Balm

Most deodorants work by either blocking your sweat glands with aluminium salts, or masking smell with synthetic fragrance. We do neither.

Bare Veld Deodorant Balm uses two active odour-control ingredients: magnesium hydroxide, which raises the pH of your underarm environment to make it inhospitable to odour-causing bacteria, and zinc ricinoleate, which physically captures and neutralises odour molecules rather than covering them up.

Arrowroot powder absorbs moisture and improves the texture so the balm glides on without drag. A blend of shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax forms a breathable, conditioning base that won't stain or pill on fabric.

This is not an antiperspirant. You will still sweat — as your body intends. What you won't do is smell.

Formulated without water, which means no preservatives are needed. Small batches. Made in Cape Town.

How to use:

Warm a small amount between clean fingers — about a pea-sized scoop — and apply directly to clean, dry underarms. A little goes a long way. For best results, apply after showering when skin is completely dry. Allow 30 seconds to absorb before dressing.

If transitioning from aluminium-based deodorants, allow 2–4 weeks for your skin's microbiome to rebalance. Some people experience a brief adjustment period — this is normal and temporary.

Tip: In very hot weather, store your tin in a cool spot — the coconut oil in the formula softens at around 24°C.
